We're back!

After a delightful nine days in Hawaii, we're back in the real world and getting ready for Thanksgiving and the visiting Theis clan. We had a fabulous time with lots of beach time, snorkeling, reading, hiking, and EATING. Our evenings definitely revolved around food, especially shave ice (60 flavors!) from Jo Jo's.

This photo was taken at the very highest point of a drive up a canyon. The lookout point was a mile up from the parking area. A mile isn't normally far, but there weren't any signs to tell us how far we were to walk, and we definitely started out just thinking that we were heading in 50 or 100 feet. The road dipped and curved so we could never tell how far the end of the path was, and I jokingly gave Theis a hard time about dragging his pregnant wife on a hike to the furthest end of the island. We barely passed anyone coming or going (which felt very ominous at the time), so we couldn't ask if we were headed in the right direction or how much further we had to travel. Luckily, it was a beautiful spot to end up, and we had the whole mountain top to ourselves. The evening fog was rolling in and over the mountain as we took this photo.
